To celebrate the release of Spectre, TheTake has ranked the top ten most memorable Bond Girl names. It’s like Miss Universe for 007’s exes.
The women of James Bond movies are many things.
Beautiful. Exotic. Deadly.
Well-named…not so much.
We’ve ranked the 10 most memorable Bond Girl names, from the sexiest to the silliest and everything in between.
And we’ve included pictures too because, well, you have to put a name to a face.
10. Dr. Christmas Jones in The World is Not Enough (1999)
Best Quote: “I thought Christmas only came once a year.” – James Bond
Why Her: She’s the most accurate representation of a Nuclear Physicist in a James Bond movie.
9. Mary Goodnight in The Man With The Golden Gun (1974)
[over the phone] M: “Bond? Bond, are you there? Goodnight?”
[Bond picks up phone] James Bond: “Good night, sir.”
Why Her: She was always there to help Bond get a good night’s sleep.
8. Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace (2008)
James Bond: “Ms. Fields, when is the next flight back to London?”
Strawberry Fields: “Tomorrow morning.”
James Bond: “Well then we have all night.”
7. Honey Ryder in Dr. No (1962)
Honey Ryder: “Are you looking for shells?”
James Bond: “No, I’m just looking.”
Why Her: For being the original Bond girl. (And for having nice shells.)
6. Octopussy in Octopussy (1983)
Best Quote: “007 on an island populated exclusively by women? We won’t see him till dawn!” -Q.
Why Her: In the original Ian Fleming short story, “Octopussy” was the name of the villain’s octopus. The writers felt this was a waste of a perfectly good name, and upgraded the sea creature to an adult woman.
5. Dr. Molly Warmflash in The World is Not Enough (1999)
Best Quote: “I see the good doctor has cleared you. Notes you have exceptional stamina.” -M
Why Her: Because she isn’t afraid to be fast and loose with medical ethics.
4. Plenty O’Toole in Diamonds are Forever (1971)
Best Quote: Plenty O’Toole: “Hi, I’m Plenty.” James Bond: “But of course you are.“
Why Her: Mr. and Mrs. O’Toole really didn’t give their daughter a shot with a name like “Plenty.”
3. Xenia Onatopp in Goldeneye (1995)
Best Quote: “She always did enjoy a good squeeze.” – James Bond
Why Her: She really gives the phrase “killing for pleasure” a whole new meaning.
2. Dr. Holly Goodhead in Moonraker (1979)
Best Quote: “James? Take me ’round the world one more time.” -Holly Goodhead
Why Her: For becoming a NASA astronaut and a doctor despite the unfortunate surname her parents saddled her with.
1. Pussy Galore in Goldfinger (1964)
Best Quote: “You’re a woman of many parts, Pussy.” -James Bond
Why Her: Because all the other names were just too subtle.
