LOCATION OF THE WEEK: When Harry Met Lloyd… for Burgers

There’s nothing quite like a quintessential diner.

The casual atmosphere. The simple menu of burgers, hot dogs and chili. It’s like the mealtime equivalent of wearing a pair of comfortable sweatpants. Nearly every city’s got a cherished go-to, but if you find yourself in Providence, Rhode Island, you go to Haven Brothers.

Haven Brothers Diner was founded in 1888 as a horse-drawn lunch carriage. So basically, it was the world’s first food truck. And the business has survived ever since, rolling out to the corner of Dorrance and Fulton streets every day at 4:30pm to feed hungry locals, including students from Brown and politicians from City Hall. And it even draws Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels), the dimwitted best friends in Dumb and Dumber To.

Because if you’re fueling up for a cross-country road trip to find your daughter—a daughter you never knew existed—you’re going to need a hearty meal. Our recommendation: the Triple Murder Burger.

That’s right. It’s three beef patties topped with grilled onions, bacon and mushrooms. And as the name implies, it’s so good it kills every other burger in town. Or, maybe it’s so good you’d commit a triple murder to get your hands on one. Then again, maybe the burger’s calorie count and cholesterol level is responsible for a few deaths.

Either way, it’s a fine burger that requires two hands and a sturdy grip. Pair it with some fries, a milkshake and a side of chili, and you’ve got yourself a balanced meal.

Remember: lift with your legs.
